• How do I find a Gallagher Certified Channel Partner?

  Gallagher has a network of certified partners throughout the world. To find one with the experience and scope to meet your security needs, contact your local Gallagher Business Development Manager.

• How can I be sure that a security dealer or installer is Gallagher trained and accredited?

  Only security providers (Channel Partners) who are trained and certified by Gallagher are qualified and authorised to install, commission and maintain Gallagher systems. Gallagher issues ‘Certified Professional’ ID cards to Channel Partner staff and ‘Sub-contractor’ cards to approved sub-contractors.
  Ask to see these ID cards to verify their identity and ensure that their Gallagher certification is up-to-date.

   

• How can I become a Gallagher Channel Partner?

  Gallagher Certified Channel Partners sell and service Gallagher solutions to customers around the world. They are the best of the best in their respective markets and have proven competencies in system sales, engineering and configuration, installation, integration and aftersales service and support.
  Gallagher Certified Channel Partners must invest in training to ensure knowledge of and competency in the Gallagher systems they are certified to re-sell.

• Is the Gallagher security electric fence system safe?

  Yes. The energiser components, design and system design installation comply with product standards and our own Code of Practice for installation around the world. More than 50 years of design and manufacturing have been invested in every unit we produce, all of which are fully tested prior to leaving the factory.
  

• What happens if a child or elderly person comes into contact with the power fence system?

  The impulses are regulated and safe for everyone. In accordance with the Gallagher Code of Practice and Minimum Quality Standards, all systems are designed and installed to minimise the risk of accidental contact.

• What is Gallagher's Code of Practice and Minimum Quality Standards?

  As responsible manufacturers and distributors of the perimeter security system, Gallagher has a policy of only making the system available from accredited Channel Partner (dealers).
  All Gallagher Certified Channel Partners have an agreement in which they commit only to design, install and maintain systems in accordance with the Gallagher Code of Practice and Minimum Quality Standards.
  The Gallagher standards meet and exceed the requirements of all national and international standards regarding safety and the application of electric fence systems.

• Is the system legal?

  Yes, absolutely. The system design, components and installation comply with the requirements of international regulations. The system is also only available from accredited dealers who exercise a ‘duty of care’ in the design, installation and maintenance of Gallagher security electric fence systems in accordance with Gallagher Code of Practice and Minimum Quality Standards.

• What maintenance is required?

  Gallagher recommends four routine maintenance inspections per year to ensure optimum system performance and reliability.

• Is the system prone to false alarms due to changes in the weather, heavy rain, fog, snow, high winds, falling leaves, wet paper bags, wild animals etc?

  No. Unlike other perimeter systems, Gallagher security electric fence technology and signal processing ignores these forms of interference.
  False alarms are rare due to the system quality, proven design and unique patented electronics and system components.
  Gallagher systems are also designed, installed and maintained only by trained and certified Channel Partners.

• Why does the system not generate an alarm if an animal or human touches the perimeter fence wires?

  Anyone who touches the perimeter when the system is armed is repelled by a short, sharp and painful, but regulated, safe electric shock.
  Alarms are generated only when someone attacks, tries to climb through or tampers with the Gallagher system.

• What happens if the mains power fails?

  All Gallagher perimeter security systems have standby power supplies. In the event of mains power failure, rechargeable batteries power the system for up to of eight hours (if configured using default settings). If a longer period is required, a UPS or other backup power supply should be used.

• What are the running costs of a typical Gallagher perimeter system?

  The comprehensive six-channel system consumes less than 40 watts when fully armed, comparable to a small 40w mains power lightbulb. The smaller unit consumes less depending on its features.

• Are Gallagher systems compatible with other security systems and equipment?

  Yes. Gallagher units come in a number of forms to suit all systems. A variety of models means a selection to suit each application. Some can be installed as standalone systems or directly interfaced with any other type of intruder alarm, access control or integrated security system. This is for all functions including arming, disarming, monitoring and signalling.

• Can gates be protected?

  Yes. All forms of security opening, sliding and power gates can be fully protected with the Gallagher perimeter system.

• Is it possible for the perimeter security system to be on and monitor the perimeter security without the high voltage feature?

  Yes. Gallagher systems have a fully monitored HV/LV option for the protection of storage yards, car parks and sites such as garden centres and factories, where authorised people can be exposed to the Gallagher perimeter security system without the risk of the high voltage feature.
  During the day, the system is fully monitored using a unique LV system. When premises are vacated, they can be armed with the additional feature of the high-voltage deterrent.

• Is the Gallagher perimeter security system zoned for alarm management and response?

  Yes. Multi-channel Gallagher systems have between three and six zones for alarm management and monitoring purposes. These zones can be configured to meet exact site requirements such as programmable delayed zones for entry and exit routes, gates and instant zones for standard perimeter protection.

• What is the maximum Gallagher perimeter security zone length?

  On the standard multi-channel Gallagher system, each zone can be between 500 and 1500 metres long. Therefore, a standard six-channel Gallagher Controller can be used for the protection of perimeter fencing up to six kilometres in length.

• Can Gallagher security electric fence systems be used in conjunction with CCTV, security lighting and other alarm monitoring or annunciation?

  Yes. When integrated with our Gallagher Command Centre software, alarm and zone alarm outputs can be used to trigger or operate all forms of alarm monitoring, annunciation or signalling systems.

• What do the police think about Gallagher systems?

  Gallagher has held discussions with Crime Prevention Officers throughout various regions. Many Gallagher installations are a direct result of police referral.

• Do insurers accept or specify Gallagher security systems?

  Yes. Most major insurance companies accept the installation of Gallagher systems and some are now even specifying our product for the protection of specific sites.

  As a direct result of Gallagher systems preventing crime and losses on various sites, some site owners have been able to obtain insurance on previously uninsurable or uneconomic risks.
